The Honorable Mike DeWine

Governor of Ohio

Columbus, OH

On Nov. 6, 2018, Mike DeWine was elected to serve as Governor of Ohio. He has had a long and distinguished career in public service, focusing on protecting Ohio’s children and families. He was previously the 50th Attorney General of Ohio and has also served as Greene County Prosecutor, Ohio Senator, U.S. Congressman, Ohio Lt. Governor, and U.S. Senator.

DeWine has a long record of protecting Ohio’s children from underage tobacco use and vaping. In his first term as Governor, DeWine raised the age to purchase such products to 21. Now, he is urging the legislature to ban the e-cigarette flavors that appeal to youngsters. As Ohio’s Attorney General, DeWine led a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general in urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to regulate the advertising of vaping products. As a U.S. Senator, DeWine sponsored legislation granting the FDA authority over the marketing of tobacco products to kids.

Children and families are at the core of everything Mike DeWine does. He met his wife, Fran (Struewing), in the first grade, and they married while they were students at Miami University. They have eight children and 24 grandchildren.

DeWine has served on the Truth Initiative board of directors since 2019.
