Bio

Michael Felberbaum joins Truth Initiative as Senior Vice President of Editorial Strategy and Media Affairs.

Michael brings more than two decades of experience at the intersection of journalism, public affairs and public health. He is driven by a commitment to clear, compelling communication that empowers the public, builds trust and shapes social discourse.

Michael spent 10 years in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Media Affairs. Initially joining the FDA as a press officer, Michael led media strategy to shape the public’s understanding of the FDA’s tobacco policies and regulatory activities. He then went on to become the Assistant Commissioner for Media Affairs — overseeing the team responsible for engaging with the media on the agency’s regulatory and public health initiatives.

Before joining the FDA, Michael worked at The Associated Press for nearly 12 years, where he was the first and only writer in the organization’s history dedicated to covering the evolving tobacco landscape.

Michael holds degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He lives in North Bethesda, Maryland, with his three-legged dog, Phoebe, and spends a lot of time at Washington Capitals games.
