Gary Tang

Gary Tang is the Chief Financial and Investment Officer at Truth Initiative, where he provides strategic financial leadership and oversees all aspects of the organization’s financial operations and investment portfolios to ensure its long-term fiscal health and sustainability. With over 20 years of experience in finance and operations leadership, Tang works closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that advance Truth Initiative’s mission—preventing youth and young adult nicotine addiction and empowering quitting for all.

Before joining Truth Initiative, Tang served as Chief Financial Officer at the Optical Society of America. He previously held CFO roles at the National 4-H Council and the American College of Financial Services. His private sector leadership experience includes progressive roles at Fannie Mae, Ocwen Federal Bank FSB, and an EV manufacturer.

Tang earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Miami and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certified by the CFA Institute.
